PETG Pro offers an excellent balance between printability and performance, combining good dimensional stability and low warping with excellent layer adhesion, toughness and improved heat resistance. The material is designed to combine characteristics of PLA's printability with the durability associated with ABS.

Its combination of strength and durability makes it an excellent choice for functional components, prototypes, brackets, organisers, enclosures, workshop projects and everyday prints that need to withstand more demanding use than typical PLA parts.

PETG Pro may not be the best choice for:

PETG generally requires higher printing temperatures than PLA and can be more prone to stringing if temperature, retraction or moisture levels are not correctly controlled.

Important: The manufacturer's TDS recommends avoiding long-term use in environments above 70°C to prevent changes in material performance.

How to store PETG Pro filament

PETG is sensitive to moisture and should be kept sealed in a cool, dry environment when not in use.

For best results, return the spool to the supplied resealable bag with desiccant after printing or store it in a filament dry box.

Moist PETG may cause:

  • Popping or crackling during printing
  • Excessive stringing
  • Increased oozing
  • Bubbles in the extrusion

What is the difference between PETG Pro and PLA?

PETG Pro is designed for applications requiring greater toughness, durability and heat resistance than standard PLA. PLA is generally easier to print and is excellent for decorative models and prototypes, while PETG Pro is particularly well suited to functional components and parts that may experience greater mechanical stress.

Does PETG Pro require a heated bed?

Yes. A heated build plate is recommended. The manufacturer's recommended build-plate temperature is 60–70°C.

Does PETG Pro need an enclosure?

No. The manufacturer's TDS specifically states that an enclosed chamber is not required.

Does PETG Pro require a hardened nozzle?

No. Standard PETG Pro does not normally require a hardened nozzle. A standard brass nozzle is suitable.

What nozzle temperature should I use?

The recommended nozzle temperature is 230–250°C. Start within this range and adjust according to your printer, print speed, nozzle and model.

Should I use the cooling fan with PETG Pro?

Yes, but PETG generally requires less cooling than PLA. The manufacturer's recommendation is 30–50% fan speed.

Is PETG Pro suitable for outdoor use?

PETG Pro is generally more suitable than PLA for applications requiring improved environmental and temperature resistance. However, suitability will depend on the application, colour, exposure conditions and expected service life. For prolonged outdoor or safety-critical applications, the finished part should be tested for the intended conditions.

How heat resistant is PETG Pro?

According to the TDS, PETG Pro has a glass transition temperature of 76–80°C, a Vicat softening temperature of 82 ±3°C, and an as-printed heat deflection temperature of 68–71°C at 1.8MPa or 77–80°C at 0.45MPa. The manufacturer recommends avoiding long-term use above 70°C.

Why is my PETG stringing?

Stringing can be caused by excessive nozzle temperature, incorrect retraction settings or moisture absorbed by the filament. If a previously well-printing spool begins stringing excessively, drying the filament may help.

Does PETG Pro need to be dried before printing?

Not necessarily when opening a properly vacuum-sealed new spool. However, if the filament has been exposed to humid air or shows signs of moisture, dry it at 55°C for 3–4 hours before printing.
